“Turkish Season” in France brings out ten thousand people to the Eiffel Tower
”Turkish Season” began in France on June 30th, with the first concert performances held last Saturday night. Ten thousand people came out to be mesmerized by performances by Mercan Dede and Fire of Anatolia.
Saturday night marked the first night of entertainment events for France’s “Turkish Season.” With a stage constructed across from the Eiffel Tower, the almost ten thousand attendees were pleased by performances by Mercan Dede and Fire of Anatolia. The “Turkish Season” is set to last approximately nine months, and will host exhibitions including Ottoman Kaftans in the Louvre and ‘Istanbul through the Ages’i n the Grand Palais, The exhibition in the Grand Palais is expected to be opened by both President Gul and Nicolas Sarkozy.
In other upcoming events, Paris Municipal Mayor Bertrand Delance will give keys to the city to writer Orhan Pamuk, director Nuri Bilge Ceylan and photographer Ara Guler. Within the framework of the cultural event, throughout France, more than 70 cities, including Paris will host over 400 artistic and cultural events introducing Turkey. The “Turkish Season” is anticipated to show the French public modern Turkey’s dynamics, creative differences and to better introduce the nation’s cultural heritage
