Turkey set to manage nuclear crisis

North Korea’s recent nuclear testing has brought the world to their feet. About to take on the position of term chair for the UN Security Council, Turkey will now be playing a key role in solving the crisis.

The fact that two days ago North Korea conducted underground nuclear testing on bombs with strength equivalent to those exploded by the USA during the Second World War in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, also closely affects Turkey. The close connection is due to the fact that Turkey, as a UN Security Council member, will be taking on the Sanctions Committee Chairmanship directed at North Korea. Furthermore, next week Turkey will be handed over the Chairmanship of the UN Security Council by Russia. Therefore, it is anticipated that a significant portion of Turkey’s term in the UN Security Council will be focused on dealing with North Korea.
