Hido, turning away an annual nine-million-dollars offer from Orlando, is instead considering Portland’s proposal of ‘fifty million dollars over five years.’ Meanwhile, Toronto may up the offer to fifty-six million.

Hidayet Turkolu may become the highest earning Turkish athlete with his upcoming contract in the NBA. Orlando offered to up Hido’s previous four-year contract at 7.3 million dollars to nine million dollars. However, since Hido turned down the offer, now Portland, Miami and Toronto are competing for the Turkish basketball player. Hidayet announced that he is anticipating a five year/fifty million dollar contract and is now headed to Portland to discuss such an offer. Just as things were about to be finalized with Portland, the Toronto Raptors stepped in. The Raptors, regretting losing Hidayet to Orlando in 2004, are planning to make a 56 million dollar offer. Hidayet, who has played for the NBA for nine years now, stated; “I am thirty-years-old. I need to think about my future. I want to play in this league for five more years under the best conditions.”
