Erdoğan responded to the recent passing of the Armenian resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, “I pity the willingness to sacrifice Turkey for a basic Diaspora move, it makes me laugh.”

Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan, delivered the following messages during a combined opening ceremony of facilities in Şanlıurfa:

“History is too important to be left to the opinions of 23 people in a room. One person raises their hand and the other doesn’t. They make unfounded decisions such as judging history that has unfolded on our land. Unable to even point out where Armenia is on the map, they are able to intervene on an issue pertaining to Turkey and Armenia. Fancy that… Turkey is too grand, noble and dignified of a country to make concessions to such flippancy, comedy and fancy footwork. We are surprised by America; I pity the stance of election maneuvering, for a simple effort by the Diaspora being worth sacrificing Turkey. It makes me laugh. Those that are stuck in the past and choose to base international relations on grudges are condemned to lose.”
