A comforting message from a dinner summit

An emphasis was placed on trust during a meeting held yesterday between the President, Prime Minister and Chief of Staff, in the Cankaya Presidential Palace. A number of messages were released following the meeting, including; “let’s not deteriorate the various establishments and that the situation is under control.”

President Gul held a meeting with Prime Minister Erdogan and Chief of Staff General Basbug at the Cankaya Presidential Palace on Thursday. The meeting came as a result of a series of recent arrests of high-ranking military officials in connection to an alleged coup plan entitled the ‘Balyoz (Sledgehammer) Security Plan.’

The three main messages announced after the summit were the following:  ‘the sensitivities of the Turkish Armed Forces will be paid close consideration, the public should be made aware the situation is under control and finally, all problems  will be resolved through legal means.’

After the meeting, an overall announcement was made that everyone needs to act responsibly in finding solutions to issues on the agenda. After the summit, Prime Minister Erdogan expressed that the meeting had gone well.
