Every year one million American dissidents are born

MHP (Nationalist Movement Party) leader Devlet Bahceli warned US Ambassador James Jeffrey by stating; “Every year one million 250 thousand children are born. Due to the April 24th ‘syndrome’ they may all be brought up opposed to the US. Don’t sacrifice Turkey”…

The echoes of responses to US President Barack Obama calling the 1915 incidents a “big disaster’ in Armenian and thereby overlooking the Turks that also lost their lives, in his message delivered on the day of commemoration April 24th,  continue. MHP leader Devlet Bahceli responded harshly yesterday to the US President’s address. Just last week, during a meeting held with US Ambassador James Jeffrey, Bahceli had stated “That’s enough” and proceeded to make the following assessments: "The Turkish public does not want to experience an April 24th syndrome. That’s enough! President Obama should say what he has to say, but he should do so once. This syndrome of ‘What will the President say?’ has run its course. Even though this situation has not yet reached a point of animosity, it does tend to trigger anti-American sentiments. Don’t forget, every year one million 250 children are born in this nation. That also means that every year, one million 250 individuals reach the age of eighteen. In a sense, this means that this figure could represent the number of individuals that are brought up as US dissidents. Turkey, with a population of 70 million, should not be sacrificed for a hundred thousand Armenians. I hope it does not come to that.”

Bahceli also went on to state that such concepts as strategic alliances and model collaboration need to be emphasized and stated; "We urgently need to ensure clarity on how we can achieve benefits for both countries within this framework of cooperation.” Ambassador Jeffrey, thanking the MHP leader for his evaluation on the US approach and especially the April 24th issue, stated; “No one has ever provided me with such a clear and concise assessment up until now.”

PRAISE FROM THE AMBASSADOR
US Ambassador Jeffrey, touching upon the performance displayed by the Turkish economy in the global crisis environment, also told MHP leader Bahceli the following: "The actions and reforms taken by the 57th Turkish government of which you also serve has situated the Turkish economy on a solid foundation. If today, Turkey is relatively lesser affected by the crisis, the contribution and courageous decision made by the 57th government have contributed greatly.”
