Soldier killed in explosion in Şemdinli

A soldier was killed in the line of duty as a result of a land-mine explosion in Şemdinli County, located in the southeastern province of Hakkari.

Yesterday, as Gendarmerie Command teams were conducting search and recovery activities in Derecik, Şemdinli a land-mine, planted by members of the PKK terrorist organization exploded, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuring three others. Following the explosion a widespread operation was initiated in the region in which another mine, planted by PKK members also exploded.  

İsa Keskin, an infantry corporal from Samsun, lost his life in the explosion. An operation is currently ongoing in the region.
