Three commanders released

Former military Commanders General Fırtına, General Örnek and General Saygun testified regarding the ‘Balyoz coup plan’ and were later released by prosecutors.

After holding them for 10 hours in the court, Chief Prosecutor Vekili Çolakkadı ruled that former General Örnek and Former Air Forces Commander General Fırtına be released, due to there being no threat of “tampering with evidence or running.” Meanwhile, General Saygun has been restricted from leaving the country.

On the third day of the “Balyoz” investigation, 11 officers, nine of which were active duty, were arrested including, admirals Çetin and Erdağ.
