Earthquake panic in the capital

Temporary panic was experienced in Ankara’s Akyurt and Elmadağ districts after 4.1 and 3.0 earthquakes rocked the capital.

At approximately 02:35 a 4.1 magnitude earthquake, with an epicenter located 6.5 kilometers deep, took place in the Akyurt district. Certain residents chose to temporary leave their homes after they felt the quake. According to information obtained form officials, there was no loss of life or damage to property incurred. 

Soon after the earthquake in Akyurt, at 3:00 am another earthquake rattled the capital, this time measuring 3.0 on the Righter scale with an epicenter based in the Elmadağ district. Both earthquakes were felt by residents in the district vicinities as well as in the city center. A number of people left their homes in fear and stated that their homes shook significantly during the quake.
