The Agos website, the leading Armenian newspaper in Turkey in which Hrant Dink was editor-in-chief at the time of his murder, was victim to an attack by hackers.

Hackers not only infiltrated the Agos newspaper website, but also the website for the International Hrant Dink foundation. The hacked website featured a photograph of Dink’s murder suspect, Ogun Samast, and the threat, “You will either love it here, or leave or die like the traitor Hrant.

The photograph of Samast was taken in the police station and had the saying, “Our homeland is holy, and will not be left up to fate” as the backdrop.  The hackers also published a threatening message relayed on the website.

Bilgi University Law School IT Law Professor Dr. Yaman Akdeniz states that according to the Turkish criminal code, the hackers could face anywhere between one to five years in prison for, “obstructing the system, infringement, and destroying or altering data.”
