After the Ankara-Eskisehir line, now the Ankara-Konya line will also have a High Speed Train. The initial welding of the line will take place on July 17th, 2009 and will be done by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. When the project is completed, the 10.5 hour distance will have been brought down to just one hour and fifteen minutes.

The Ankara-Konya High Speed Train Line, which will begin from Polat and will head South will have double electrical lines, and a new rail system, allowing for a speed of 250 km per hour. The total 306 km line includes the 94 kilometer High Speed Train Route from Ankara to Istanbul. The Ankara-Istanbul and Ankara-Izmir High Speed Train project is expected to be completed by the end of 2010 and will bring the Ankara-Konya line’s ten and a half hour ride down to just one hour and fifteen minutes. When the Eskisehir-Istanbul High Speed Train line is finished the route from Istanbul to Konya, which presently takes twelve and a half hours approximately will have been brought down to just three hours and thirty minutes.
