Same mine, same cemetery

Miner Serkan Aydin lost his life in the in the recent methane explosion in the same mine where his uncle was killed four years ago.

Thirteen were killed in the recent coal mine disaster. The father of Serkan Aydin, a 23-year-old who was killed in the mine explosion, cried out; “His uncle Muzaffaer Aydin was killed in the same coal mine. I said to my son, ‘Don’t go in this tunnel of death. But he wouldn’t listen.”

The owner of the mine in Odakoy and his two partners as well as an engineer have been arrested for “causing deaths due to negligence and lack of preventative measures.”
