Ocalan’s 10 clauses

While Prime Minister Erdogan has announced a Kurdish expansion initiative executed by the Ministry of Interior Affairs, PKK ring leader Abdullah Ocalan has also announced the ten clauses to his road map he plans to release on August 15th.

In an announcement made through his lawyers, last week, Ocalan stated; “The road map I am going to announce will depend on the intellectuals. I am calling on Turkey’s radical democrats to take on duties and responsibilities. There are three types of democrats in Turkey; liberal, conservative and radical. I am a radical democrat. Radical democrats will be the ones to take the initiative in establishing a solution.” 

The following are a list of the ten fundamentals, obtained by SABAH from a close source of Ocalan: 

• Turkish citizenship should be added to the constitution.
• Kurdish teaching and education should be accepted an added to the constitution.
• The cease-fire should continue and an unconditional amnesty should be announced.
• Intellectuals should take initiative during the transformation period.
• All obstacles on the freedom of conducting politics should be lifted. Everyone should be allowed to participate in politics.
• The isolation inflicted on Abdullah Ocalan should be lifted.
• Local authorities should be empowered. Democratic autonomy should be accepted.
• A Hakikatlar (Truth) Commission should be founded to research all events and especially murders committed which took place.
• The guardianship system should be lifted.
• The land should be reformed.
