Tarkan takes on Eurovision

TRT authorities have agreed in principle with Tarkan, who they have requested to represent Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest.

This year Hadise represented Turkey in the Eurovision contest and come in fourth with the song “Dum Tek Tek.” Next year, it appears that honor will go to Tarkan. Having agreed in principle with TRT authorities on Thursday; in addition to representing Turkey in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, Tarkan is also about to embark on additional products with the state-run television station.  

Tarkan will not only represent Turkey in the 2010 Eurovision Contest which will be hosted by Norway in May, but has also reached an agreement with TRT for a program on a new music channel about to be launched by  the state-run television station. Hitt Production, which Tarkan is a partner of, will prepare a show for TRT’s new music channel.

EBU CHAIRMAN’S REQUEST
The fact that Tarkan received this offer did not come as a surprise to authorities in the music industry. In fact, in an announcement made last year European Broadcast Union (EBU) Eurovision Song Contest Chairman Svante Stockselius had announced; “If Turkey sends Tarkan to the 2010 competition in Norway I will be very pleased.”
