Hadise makes the finals

Hadise, Turkey’s representative in the Eurovision semifinals held in Moscow, qualified for the finals last night with her song entitled “Dum Tek Tek.” Hadise will compete with representatives from 24 different countries on Saturday.

Turkey was the first nation to be announced as a finalist in last night’s Eurovision semi-finals, which are being held in Russia. Representatives from seventeen countries competed last night in the first round of the semifinals, for the 54th Eurovision Song Contest. Georgia pulled out of the competition because their entry was considered to be political. Hadise, who took the stage in ninth place, gathered applause from over 20,000 spectators in a successful performance displayed last night. The results of the voting, which is being done by SMS, was announced randomly by a specially designed mechanism that selected the finalists. The second round of the semifinals will be held tomorrow night, and on Saturday May 16th representatives from 25 nations will compete in the finals.
Who else made the finals?
The following nations’ representatives will join Hadise of Turkey to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest finals: Sweden, Israel, Portugal, Malta, Finland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Romania, Armenia and Iceland. Representatives from Germany, England, France, Spain and Russia automatically qualified for the finals, while those from Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Belarus, Andorra, Bulgaria and Macedonia were eliminated from the competition last night.
