Babacan’s IMF announcement
"We have decided to take a break on deliberations until May. According to our own demands as well as the IMF’s, we do not have an immediate need for a loan-program. Turkey’s economy is currently advancing strongly in line with our own policies. If we had made an agreement we may have been one step ahead economically, however it is not a necessity.
Turkey is a nation that needs to depend on itself. With the policies in place and the steps taken; Turkey has already advanced to a certain point. We are no longer deliberating on a loan program with the IMF. The IMF is always an open door for its 192-member nations; however it is no longer on our agenda. We will decide what will be done next following the economic revision to be conducted in May."
