Turkcell plans to open up to Europe

Currently a contender in the US Stock Exchange, Turkcell now has intentions to expand to Europe. The company is considering opening up transactions to both the Amsterdam and Paris stock markets.

As the sole Turkish company holding transactions in the New York Stock Exchange since 2000, Turkcell is now considering opening up to European stock markets. 

Turkcell Corporate Communication Assistant General Manager Koray Öztürkler has expressed that they are partial to participating in the European stock market and are currently assessing the option. According to Öztürkler, “If a company fulfills the requirements to take part in the New York Stock Exchange, they can then hold transactions in European stock markets without incurring further costs. Öztürkler expressed that in the future, Turkcell stocks may be active in Amsterdam, Paris or Lisbon stock markets, however he also emphasized that at present they are only assessing the option.  

According to information obtained, there are three additional Turkish companies preparing to be included in the New York Stock Exchange. Whether or not they have been accepted will be determined in less than five weeks, However, including the preparation period, this time frame could extend to up to five to six months. The companies’ size and reporting mechanism are integral factors in determining the time frame of access to the US Stock Exchange.
