TÜRK-İŞ, DİSK, KAMU-SEN and KESK chairmen gathered together on the 70th day of demonstrations held by Tekel workers in the capital.

The confederations have decided to offer their support to the Tekel workers plight and to voice their dissent of the 4-C Article, by staging a march with torches on February 25th. The confederations have also decided to hold a two-hour sit-in on February 27th, while on May 26th it has been decided that there will be a ‘general strike.’

During an announcement, Türk-İş Chairman Mustafa Kumlu accused the government of forcing the workers to make a choice between starvation and slavery. Kumlu stated; "The protests began with the will of Tekel workers and will come to an end with their own volition.”
