Toll rate increase for bridges and highways

The toll crossing rates for highways and the will incur a rate increase which will go into effect as of midnight on Sunday, January 1st, 2012.
According to an announcement by the , in order to provide more economical, safe and faster transportation services, the cost of building, maintenance and repair on toll roads is more costly in comparison to other methods of transportation.
The announcement states that the price regulations for toll roads established on January 2nd, 2010 have been readjusted based upon necessity with a 10.21% increase incurred on the per vehicle price.
Accordingly, the shortest distance toll roads will now cost 1.75 TL per automobile, the longest distance toll roads will cost 15 TL and the price to cross over the Bosphorus Bridge will now be 4.25 TL.
For large vehicles, the cost to cross the Bosphorus Bridge will range between 5.50 TL and 32.25 TL.
